Human Resources Manager

Armour Insurance Group is a growing, privately-owned Alberta Insurance Brokerage with three offices in Alberta. We are eager to find a Human Resources Manager who connects easily with people and has a detail-oriented mindset for handling the dynamic nature of today’s workforce.

HR Manager Essential Functions

  • Full Cycle Recruitment: Job postings, screening applications, interviewing in conjunction with the Hiring Manager, reference checks, counseling managers on candidate selection, offers/negotiations, onboarding paperwork/setup and orientation.
  • Performance Management: Ensure quarterly performance reviews are conducted and provide leadership coaching on managing performance concerns.
  • Culture and Employee Relations: Organize fun staff events, recognize milestones such as birthdays & anniversaries, kudos draws, culture cup, lead the employee experience committee, and more.
  • Policy Development: Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage and administer Armour’s employee benefit and compensation programs.
  • Compensation: Conduct regular external compensation reviews to ensure Armour is competitive; make recommendations for adjustments.
  • Payroll/Attendance: Manage company attendance and submit bi-monthly payroll.
  • Training & Development: Provide guidance, support, and resources to staff for career development education.
  • Lead the administration team: Facilitate weekly meetings; ensure all locations have the necessary supplies and processes/procedures are being followed.
  • Health & Safety: Lead the health and safety initiatives in the organization.  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • An ambassador of the Armour Insurance brand.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources
  • CPHR Designation, or working towards, is preferred
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a human resources management role as an effective leader
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable human resources legislation as well as policies, procedures, and practices for Canada
  • Experience in recruitment and performance management is required
  • Previous experience in payroll and benefit administration is preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and process
  • Experience in Insurance would be an asset
  • Ability to travel with a Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle are required
  • You are fairly tech savvy and have experience and are proficient in MS Office suite
