Can I Pay My Insurance Premiums with a Credit Card?

Pay Insurance By Credit CardA lot of us have credit cards with point programs, like Air Miles or Avion attached to them. These points can be used towards flights, products and my favourite: gift cards to Home Depot ;)

If you have one of these programs on your card, you're probably paying an annual fee, and you probably want to make sure that you build up as many points as you possibly can. So every opportunity to convert your regular expenses to generate more points is definitely welcome.

So Can I Pay My Insurance With My Credit Card?

YES! With most of the providers we deal with you can pay your premiums on your credit card. This goes for your car insurance, home insurance and now some providers are accepting credit card payments on commercial insurance! If you're with any of the following insurance companies, you may be eligible to make credit card payments:

Are There Any Limitations?

There may be some limitations when using this payment method. These will differ based on your provider, but soem of these include:

  • Payment frequency - with some providers your payment terms may be limited annually or other time frames.
  • Automated payments - with most providers credit card payments cannot be automated. The must be made manually on the company website or through your insurance broker.

Can I pay Commercial Premiums via Credit Card Too?

Yes, you can pay commercial premiums with some providers. More and more companies are accepting commercial premiums through credit card payments. The latest to come on board with commercial CC payments is Aviva Canada:

As of February 14, AVIVA Canada is accepting credit card payments for Commercial Accounts. And here’s the best part – there’s no premium limit!

What you need to know

Customers can now pay their premium via credit card – VISA or MasterCard – for all types of commercial policies:

  • Small business
  • Mid-market
  • P&C
  • Auto

The payment is ‘one shot’ – a single payment to cover the annual premium.

How it works

You can make your payments by calling the 800 number below. You enter the credit card number, and card verification number (CVV – the 3 or 4 digits on the back of the credit card) directly into their telephone keypad.
