The California Department of Motor Vehicles has released a report containing the details of driverless car crashes that happened on California roads last year. This marks the first of a series of reports monitoring how autonomous vehicles are performing (or not performing) on public roads.

Uber announced earlier this month that they are working with Intact Insurance to develop a new car insurance plan for ridesharing in Canada. Uber, who maintains that their Canadian rides are covered by $5 million in liability insurance, believes that this insurance plan will be the first of its kind in Canada.

They have dispatched appraisers and set up drive-in appraisal centres in Lethbridge, Calgary (two centres), Red Deer (two centres), Lacombe, Ponoka and Hinton to assess vehicle damage. In a recent bulletin Aviva has stated that "a significant number of claims, both auto and property, have already been reported to us." Their goal is to contact all customers within 24 hours, but because of the large volume of claims, Aviva expects to have delays in response time.
